Join us for this community fundraising event to benefit the Minneapolis Sound Museum!
The Minneapolis Sound Museum will explore the rich legacy of the musicians and bands who contributed to the legendary Minneapolis Sound. Our space will include not only a museum, but also a recording studio, event space, and a retail shop, at a permanent location in Minneapolis.
Our event, Tales from The Northside: Stories of the Minneapolis Sound, will feature oral histories of the people who helped build what would become known as the Minneapolis Sound. Guests will enjoy a multifaceted experience including:
- A panel presentation with audience Q & A, exploring how North Minneapolis, in particular, gave the world this music.
- A live music performance by musicians who were present at the inception of this incredible music genre.
- An art sale featuring local artists who create Minneapolis Music Art.
- A meet and greet experience for our Star Founding Members who have supported this effort from the beginning.
Our event occurs on what would have been Prince’s 65th birthday, June 7, and also coincides with the week we honor Prince’s life with festivities that bring music lovers from all over the globe to Minneapolis.
